Promising Words

It was dark and stormy,

Lightnings broke the monotonous darkness,

Windows shaked to the beats of thunder;

But deep down in his heart, it was calm and warm.

The old man turned the pages slowly, in the dim light of the lamp;

Each line of his past gave him a faint, unnoticed smile.

As he was about to turn the last page of his book,

He found a torn letter, with a dried rose;

It was not a letter he had received;

It was the unposted letter – Old, Unread and Unsent.

And then the book closed, along with his eyes, in the stormy night.

Some letters have magic; They have the power to change everything if they reach the people they were written for.
